The personalised registrations business has it's momentsFrom the moment we started to sell personalised registrations from a semi-detached house in Wolverhampton around 1987 we have seen our fair share of humorous, embarrassing and memorable moments. Deals were concluded around a small black ash coffee table with odd length legs which were fashionable once (the table, not the legs) and hands were shook, at the time for what seemed like “mega” deals. If only we could buy registrations for that same amount of money now! The "early days" also saw it's fair share of customers who had some slightly strange ways of paying for their personalised registration number and a deal could be reached with part of the payment being a "free holiday in Tenerife" etc ? Luckily for us, not all customers wish to use that same payment method. Ever popular "BIG" registrations A customer who specialises in the catering industry making donuts, cakes and muffins purchased the personalised registration B16 MUF not long ago. One of our "larger than life" customers bought B16 BOY recently and one evening we took a phone call from a gentleman (laughing hysterically) who said "I have just seen B16 NAX advertised and I want to buy this registration immediately", he did! which makes us wonder sometimes whether the burger chain McDonalds bought B16 MAX. Personalised celebrity registrationsJR 1 was used by Larry Hagman whilst in the UK before the personalised plate was eventually sold to a Newcastle businessman. Other celebs such as Prince Naseem Hamed is a great personality and chats with us on many occasions. Stephen Hendry would often make my wife blush knowing that she used to have a little twinkle in her eye for him. Kevin Keegan bought a few together with Elizabeth Hurley and Lynne Perry. Over the years we have seen many celebrated customers who have used our services and still continue to do so and we are extremely grateful to them for their support and custom. A few factsThe famous A 1 and it's younger brother 1 A went to a world renowned Prince to sit proudly upon two white Bentley Azures. S1 NGH fetched £86,000, MUS 1C went for £65,000 and 1 J for £60,000 which proves beyond doubt that personalised registration numbers are one of the best ways to invest your money for the longer term. |
