DoT number plate laws in brief

As one of the largest suppliers of DoT number plates we must conform to rules and regulations laid down by the DoT concerning the supply of number plates to either trade or public buyers in the United Kingdom. Number plate characters

The DoT set strict specifications concerning the size and spacing of characters that can be displayed on number plates. In general, these specifications have changed little over the years and are categorised as follows.

• Those DoT number plates fitted after 1st September 2001.
• Those DoT number plates fitted before 1st September 2001 and,
• Traditional number plates fitted to motor vehicles prior to 1st January 1973.
